A woman was being treated in Dublin's Meath Hospital last night after being assaulted at a flat in Marrowbone Lane shortly after midnight.
Gardai said a group of five or six people had entered the flat before the incident took place, and a gun was produced at the scene but was not fired. A hospital spokeswoman said the victim's injuries were not serious.
