Young man shot in feet in Co Down

A young man has been admitted to hospital after receiving gunshot wounds in both feet last night.

A young man has been admitted to hospital after receiving gunshot wounds in both feet last night.

The incident occurred on Fisherman’s Row, Killough, Co Down at about 8 p.m last night. A motorcyle with two people on board stopped, knocked down the 17-year-old man and shot him in both feet.

The motorcycle drove off towards St John’s Point. Detectives at Downpatrick are investigating.

In a separate incident, the RUC have cordoned off an area near Carrickmore in Co Tyrone following the discovery of a suspicious object.

British army technical officers are examining the object which was foundin the Minadinna Lane and Drumnakelly Road area at about 10.30 last night.

The discovery was made approximately 3 kms from the village and no residents have been evacuated although traffic diversions are in place.
