Sir, - I'm somewhat puzzled by Brendan Burke's admonition that we must be careful not to err in "imposing our views on others" in the argument about abortion (December 17th). Is he referring to the pro-life or the pro-death lobby?

The former feels strongly that everybody has the right to life, while the latter argues that the born have the right to choose death for the unborn. I can only presume, from the inherent logic of his argument, that Mr Burke meant that the pro-death lobby should not be imposing their genocidal views on unborn babies.

If adults freely choose death by self-immersion in saline solution or by self-dismemberment, fair enough. But let's not delude ourselves that unborn babies are given any choice by those who impose their views on them in this human rights abuse. - Yours, etc.,
