Sir, – When driving, I frequently find myself behind one of these new-fangled electric vehicles at the traffic lights. Then, when the lights turn green, the vehicle in front shoots off at speed – only for me to come up behind it at the next lights. As it is Easter Bunny time, I am reminded about another type of bunny whose battery is advertised to last longer than others. Also, at home, I find, after time, that the rechargeable batteries in my phone, my shaver and other gadgets begin to wear out and must be replaced eventually.
So, does this mean that these smart electric vehicles, despite being rechargeable, will need their expensive batteries replaced at some time in the future, and can I smile when their take-off at traffic lights matches mine? – Yours, etc,
TONY CORCORAN,
Rathfarnham,
