Madam, - I enjoyed Don MacMonagle's photograph of daffodils in early bloom in the sunny south-west ( The Irish Times, January 23rd), but not as much as I enjoy the sight of the real thing every mid-January in the cloudy north-west.
Each year I am greeted by the sight of daffodils in bloom in a
roadside verge outside Letterkenny. This year my first sighting was
on January 14th! The effects of global warming in a world gone
"blooming mad"? - Yours, etc,
PAUL GRANT,
