Pub prices for soft drinks

Madam, - Many publicans say the smoking ban has hit their profits hard. But their greed in charging ridiculous prices for soft drinks will only keep more people at home.

On a recent visit to a pub in Milltown I was stunned to be charged €1.90 for a pint of water and blackcurrant cordial.

How can they justify this? Surely the publicans should be encouraging "designated drivers" instead of charging exorbitant prices for soft drinks. - Yours, etc.,
