Born from the ingenuity of founder Stephen Grant and his desire to provide the most efficient means of heating homes and businesses, Grant has invested substantially over the past 40 years in designing and developing appliances with customers’ needs in mind.

Manufactured to deliver on Grant’s reputation for providing efficient, affordable, innovative and reliable heating, the brand offers over 15 heating appliances and holds almost 60 patented technologies which are testament to their commitment to delivering reliable, affordable and efficient appliances to households across Ireland and beyond.

Improving efficiencies of traditional heating technologies

Beginning with Grant's very first highly-efficient heating technology, the Triple Pass Back Boiler and evolving into Grant's patented condensing technology incorporated into its multi award-winning Vortex condensing oil boiler, Grant has made great strides in improving the efficiencies of solid and fossil fuel heating appliances, working to lower the cost of heating the average home whilst also reducing emissions.

Grant's largest contribution to the wider heating industry was the introduction of the patented technology behind the Grant Vortex condensing oil boiler. A popular solution for efficient oil-fired heating, this product has become the only oil boiler to be awarded the coveted Which? Best Buy award three years in a row in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and remains a highly popular boiler option for Irish households – especially those living beyond the gas grid. In addition to their highly efficient performance, Grant has future-proofed these boilers over the past five years by enabling compatibility with biofuels, which Grant feels will be key in decarbonising home heating.

Ongoing Innovation to bring households into the future of home heating

The Aerona3 R32 inverter driven air source heat pump range provides a cleaner and more environmentally-friendly performance
The Aerona3 R32 inverter driven air source heat pump range provides a cleaner and more environmentally-friendly performance

As more Irish consumers shift their focus to sustainability and embracing renewable technologies, the highly-efficient Grant Aerona3 air source heat pump has become a popular choice to help achieve Part L compliance as required under building regulations, lowering a household's overall carbon footprint.

Available in outputs of 6kW, 10kW, 13kW and 17kW, the A+++ Grant Aerona3 R32 inverter driven air source heat pump range provides a cleaner and more environmentally-friendly performance, helping homeowners to further future-proof their home heating. The 13kW and 17kW models have also been recognised internationally by Quiet Mark for their quiet operation.

Reinforcing Grant’s commitment to providing market-leading heating solutions, the units within the range not only provide cleaner and more sustainable operation, but also exceptional efficiencies, achieving an A+++ energy rating at low temperatures such as 35°C or 45°C.  Depending on the climate conditions and demand on the heating system at the time, units can deliver 4kW of heat energy for every 1kW of electricity used. Even if external temperatures were to drop as low as -20°C, the heat pump’s output modulates up or down depending on the exact climate conditions to ensure ultimate energy efficiency for the property.

Venturing beyond the heat source to bring a full home heating solution

To further optimise heating systems for households, Grant has launched its Multiple Package Solutions offering, which pairs their award-winning boilers and heating appliances with their innovative heat emitters to help bring a home's heating system into a new class of efficiency and help to provide greater long-term energy savings.

Combining multiple technologies such as the Grant Aerona3 air source heat pump with Grant's hot water cylinders and heat emitters which are as aesthetically appealing as they are efficient like the Grant Afinia aluminium radiators, Grant Solo fan convector radiators, or Grant Uflex underfloor heating, this offering from Grant approaches the heating of a home in a fully-rounded way, addressing the unique needs of each property based on construction, layout, and the needs of the homeowner.

Removing barriers to adopting renewable technologies

Offering another major shake-up to the home heating industry, Grant recently made an announcement which highlights their continued dedication to transitioning to more sustainable home heating methods. The brand-new technology, Evolink, due to be officially launched to market later this year, is set to revolutionise how households incorporate renewable heating technologies into their home heating systems.

“Accelerating the electrification of heat is a great way to aid decarbonisation, and this is encouraged by current building regulations with new houses being predominantly fitted with a heat pump,” says founder, Stephen Grant. “We have been supplying air to water heat pumps for nearly 10 years and these appliances are ideal for new build homes where the house design is matched to the heat pump.”

Acknowledging the obstacles to retrofitting homes with heat pumps which includes the affordability of deep retrofitting which can cost up to €70k, Grant explains the new Evolink technology and how it can offer a lower cost solution to deep retrofitting.

“Evolink is the first of its kind in hybrid technology which enables the smart integration of heat pumps to a property by combining with existing technology in a home whether oil, gas or biomass. This technology uses intelligent software and complex algorithms to opitimse the use of the heat pump throughout the year, optimising the operating temperatures of the two appliances through modulating pumps and hydraulic mixing circuits. It also incorporates smart features like in-built weather compensation and can effectively reduce carbon emissions by 70 per cent to 80 per cent overnight at a fraction of the cost of deep retrofitting, thereby offering an affordable way to transition with minimal disruption.”

“The Evolink hybrid is set to play a substantial role in the transition to full decarbonisation of residential heat as will biofuel,” added Grant.
