Bauer Media Group (BMG), the European commercial radio group that owns Irish stations such as Today FM and Newstalk, has announced that Vivian Mohr has been appointed as president of the group’s audio business, Bauer Media Audio.
Mr Mohr will be leaving his role as chief financial officer and chief operating officer of the OCP (online comparison platforms) business of the Bauer Media Group, to “drive transformation of the Audio business”.
He replaces Richard Dawkins, who recently stepped down as president due to differing ideas with BMG chief executive Yvonne Bauer around the next phase of transformation for the Audio business.
With operations in nine countries across Europe, the group’s Irish operation (Bauer Media Audio Ireland) operates national stations Today FM and Newstalk, two SPIN youth stations, 98FM in Dublin and Red FM in Cork. It also runs digital sports brand Off The Ball, listening platform GoLoud, digital audio advertising exchange audioXi, and media sales house Media Central.
Yvonne Bauer said that Mr Mohr is “returning to his roots” in the new role, having led the integration of two of Switzerland’s largest radio chains, supported bolt-on acquisitions of regional stations, and managed the landmark acquisition of the country’s largest private TV broadcaster.
