Siobhán Talbot has taken over from John Moloney as managing director of Glanbia.

Mr Moloney formally resigned today, but will remain with the company until the end of the year. He will also retain his position on the board of Glanbia Ingredients Ireland Limited.

Ms Talbot, who has been serving as Glanbia managing director designate since Mr Moloney announced his intention to retire in May, takes over with immediate effect.

Mark Garvey, former executive vice president and chief financial officer at the global food and drinks company Sara Lee Corporation, will move back to Kilkenny from the US to take up the post of Glanbia finance director.

Last year, Mr Garvey facilitated the reorganisation of Sara Lee, which has operations in over 40 countries, into two separate listed companies, DE Master Blenders and Hillshire Brands.

Glanbia chairman Liam Herlihy said the company was "delighted" to announce Mr Garvey's appointment.

“It is a great testament to the growth opportunity that Glanbia offers that we can attract back to Ireland an individual of Mark’s calibre and international experience,” he said.

Mr Herlihy also thanked Mr Moloney for his “outstanding contribution” to the company.

“We are at the beginning of an exciting next phase of development and the Board is confident that we have the leadership and skills we need to achieve sustainable growth across all our business segments, here in Ireland and globally,” he added.
