John McCartney joins BNP Paribas Real Estate as head of research

Separately, Rowena Crowley appointed to senior position with Knight Frank

John McCartney has joined BNP Paribas Real Estate Ireland as head of research, a role that will see him develop the group’s market research resource.

Mr McCartney most recently worked for the Irish Housing Agency, where, for the past year, he helped strategise on Dublin's chronic under-supply of housing. Prior to that he was director of research at Savills Ireland and head of research at Lisney.

Announcing the appointment Kenneth Rouse, managing director at BNP Paribas Real Estate Ireland (BNPPRE), said that detailed data analysis and market insight was critical in the commercial real estate sector and added real value for investors and clients.

“The importance of research is critical, and contributes all the more significantly now, as the investor base in Ireland grows in sophistication. The appointment of John McCartney, a high-calibre research professional,will bring a new impetus and energy to our team, and will enhance the already extensive research offering at BNPPRE Ireland,” he said.

McCartney’s brief is to further develop the market research resource at BNPPRE, which covers the analysis and collation of property data, market commentary and forecasting of real estate indicators. Mr McCartney will also be part of the group’s international research team, and will both contribute to, and have the support of, a 60-plus strong resource, producing market-leading pan-European research.

Knight Frank

Separately, Knight Frank has appointed Rowena Crowley as director of property asset management. Ms Crowley, a chartered surveyor with 20 years of experience in the property industry, joins Knight Frank from Aviva, where she was head of asset management. In this role she led the property team in deciding the asset management strategies for a mixed portfolio of commercial properties across Ireland and UK.

Ms Crowley has a great interest in sustainability, environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, and places particular emphasis on improving the ESG credentials of the fund and properties.

Ms Crowley said: “It is a great time to be joining the senior team in Knight Frank. The exceptional quality of the clients and properties, coupled with the dynamic and energetic team here in Knight Frank, means we have a real opportunity to build on the great service we already deliver.”
