The now profitable Shannon Court Hotel near Shannon Airport is to be offered for sale at a guide price of €1.1 million.
Dave Murray of Christie +Co is handing the sale of the 54-bedroom hotel for the Co Clare-based Lynn family who have a string of hotels around the country.
The Shannon business originally traded as The Old Lodge bar and restaurant and was bought by the Lynns in 1994. Four years later they expanded it into a hotel.
Like a great many other hotels, Shannon Court experienced difficult trading conditions during the crisis, but since 2012 has been consistently profitable, showing a surplus of over €100,000 last year.
The rebound in business has been largely attributable to the recovery in business through Shannon Airport since its separation from the Dublin Airport Authority.
Overall passenger numbers last year increased by 17 per cent to 1.64 million. There has also been a significant pick-up in business at various business parks around the airport. Dave Murray says there is significant potential to drive the hotel performance further through greater focus on the food and beverage sales, and the active pursuit of local corporate and airport-driven business.
