Europe and North Africa-focused oil and gas company San Leon Energy has signed a rig contract for a drilling programme onshore Morocco.

The rig contract has been signed with Entrepose Drilling for the Cabot 750 rig.

San Leon Energy said the well is expected to spud in the second half of August, and will take approximately 30 days to reach total depth (TD) of around 2000 metres below rotary table.

San Leon executive chairman Oisin Fanning, said one of the company's main priorities this year had been to commence drilling the onshore El Aaiun-4 well.

“We look forward to the near-term drilling of the El Aaiun-4 well….We believe this well has significant potential,” he said.
