Insurer FBD has announced the appointment of John O'Grady as its new chief financial officer and as an executive director.

Mr Grady, who joins from rival Liberty Insurance, is to join the board in July. As CFO, he will be replacing Paul D'Alton, who has been held the role on an interim basis.

Prior to joining Liberty, where he holds the role of finance director, Mr O’Grady worked for Aviva and its predecessor companies in Ireland.

FBD chairman Michael Berkery said he believed Mr O'Grady would make a big contribution to the company given his wealth of experience in the general insurance industry.
