The Margin was amused at a current joke during the rounds in London's financial circles, concerning Brazil's travails. Brazil, goes the joke, could solve all its financial problems in one go - by renaming itself Brazil.com. Then the Americans would buy it.

Not amused by the unbridled enthusiasm for Internet stocks is US Federal Reserve chief, Alan Greenspan, who says their rapid rise is akin to the popular appeal of a national lottery.
