Broadcaster Tom McGurk was hit with a tax bill in excess of €76,000 for under declaration of income tax earlier this year following an audit by the Revenue Commissioners. McGurk blames his accountants and is taking a High Court action against them. Colin Gleeson has the details

In tech news, Apple will see as much as $47 billion slashed from its expected tax liability if Republicans push through their current tax plan, making it the biggest beneficiary of the legislation now working its way through Congress.

EU finance ministers in Brussels have endorsed a blacklist of 17 "non-cooperative jurisdictions" who are colluding in tax avoidance, and have refused to commit to tax transparency and information exchanges. A further 47 states that have pledged to introduce transparency measures are on a "grey" list and will be closely monitored for compliance. Patrick Smyth reports
