Former TV3 Group chief executive David McRedmond has been appointed chairman of communications consultancy firm Powerscourt Ireland. The company, founded in London in 2004, opened a Dublin office in 2015.

Before leading TV3 for nine years, Mr McRedmond was a director at Eircom (now known as Eir), while he began his career in retail, holding senior positions at Waterstones and WH Smith, where he was chief executive of WH Smith International. Earlier this year, he was a candidate for the position of director-general of RTÉ.

Mr McRedmond was a client of Powerscourt while at TV3 and Eircom. The company's chief executive, Rory Godson, said it was "fortunate to have secured David" in light of his experience in regulated industries.

“He will be an active non-executive chairman and will provide guidance to our Dublin team and counsel to our clients.”
