Ireland’s triumphant Six Nations rugby captain, Paul O’Connell (above) has even more reason to celebrate with new accounts showing his firm’s accumulated profits top €1 million for the first time.
Accounts filed by O’Connell’s Nellcon Ltd for the 12 months to the end of April 30th, 2013, show the firm’s accumulated profits increased from €975,311 to €1.09m.
During the same period, the cash pile at the firm owned by the Ireland and Munster star also increased – from €1.012m to €1.051m.
At the end of his playing career, O’Connell – like other professional sport people who end their playing careers in Ireland – will be able to claim back 40 per cent of the tax he paid over a 10-year period under a Government scheme introduced in 2002.
The figures for Nellcon Ltd show the value of the firm's investments
totalled €5,000 last year, while debtors totalled €112,860.
O’Connell established Nellcon Ltd in 2005 and the figures show the firm’s net assets were valued at €1.091m at the end of April last.
