The Michelin-starred Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, Co Waterford, has become only the second Irish restaurant to receive four AA rosettes.
The hotel joins Patrick Guilbaud’s restaurant in Dublin in having four rosettes. It previously had three.
Executive chef Martijn Kajuiter said the recognition "makes all our hard work worthwhile, and is a great morale booster for our whole team".
The judges award rosettes on the basis of technical excellence and passion for food.
The Cliff House Hotel was established about 1932. In 2008 it was almost completely rebuilt under the management of Dutch general manager Adriaan Bartels.
Two years later it won a Michelin star which it has retained.
