Mobile operator iD has signed up with Waterford based Eishtec to provide its customer service when IT launches in the coming weeks.
The mobile firm, which is a mobile virtual network operator run by Dixons Carphone, is investing €30 million in its service and expects to create up to 50 jobs as it targets 6 per cent of the market within the first five years. It will run on Three's network infrastructure.
It plans to locate its customer call centre and technical support in Waterford, with Eishtec providing the full customer care function.
"Our plan is to deliver an offering that is not currently available in today's mobile market. Key to this is our ability to provide innovation underpinned by first-class customer service," said Paul Walsh, head of operations at iD.
“Partnering with an Irish firm was a key part of this strategic investment by the Group in Ireland.”
Founded in 2011, Eishtec employs 1,100 people in its offices in Waterford, Wexford and Craigavon in Northern Ireland.
ID will also partner with global business process management firm HGS to provide the technology platform for web self-service and knowledge base management.
