Is ephemeral social networking the future? Will the option of self-destructing personal data become the norm? Microsoft Research usually spends its time on pretty serious technological projects so we'll assume that the arrival of WindUp is a precursor to tackling these issues. WindUp is Microsoft's version of SnapChat so I guess they got tired of waiting for a Windows Phone version and created their own. It's all about the same time-capped messaging; sharing text, images, audio snippets and video with a time limit that winds down (why didn't they call it wind down?) before the message expires.
