Bus company Go-Ahead Ireland is seeking 180 new workers to fill various jobs across the business.
Go-Ahead operates routes around Dublin's suburbs and recently won a contract from the National Transport Authority to operate part of the Busconnects network, a shake-up of services in the capital.
The company said it is seeking 180 workers, including drivers, engineers, supervisors and administrators.
The recruitment drive will bring the company’s workforce to 800 in total if it succeeds in attracting the new staff.
Go-Ahead’s expansion and the Busconnects contract prompted the company to seek the new staff, a statement said.
Andrew Edwards, Go-Ahead Ireland's managing director, said that the company had a "healthy pool of applicants" from which to choose workers.
Most of the new jobs will be for drivers. The company pledged to provide fully paid training to those who are not licensed to drive buses.
Go-Ahead's existing routes include services from Adamstown, Blanchardstown, Dún Laoghaire, Tallaght and other areas in the capital.
It also provides services between Dublin and Athy, Edenderry, Naas and Newbridge in Co Kildare, and Tullamore in Co Offaly.
C spine
The Busconnects contract it won recently covers the network's "C spine". This embraces routes connecting areas in Kildare and Dublin, including Adamstown, Celbridge, Dodsboro, Hazelhatch and Maynooth.
Commenting on the recruiting plans, Mr Edwards stressed that while many of the jobs were for drivers, Go-Ahead Ireland was hiring across its organisation.
“We are looking for a diverse range of skills at all levels of experience,” he added.
Go-Ahead is a British-headquartered public transport group with businesses in the UK, Germany, Norway, Singapore and Australia.
