Honda is to recall between 1,800 and 2,000 cars in Ireland on the back of an international recall covering over two million vehicles.
The latest recall was issued after potential air-bag defects were found in various models, including the Honda Jazz, Accord, Stream and some four-door saloon Civics. Cars affected are mostly between 10 and 14 years old, says Honda Ireland's after-sales director John Donoghue.
“This represents a broadening of last summer’s campaign which saw in the region of 1,400 cars recalled, and the 1,800 to 2,000 vehicles affected by this latest recall are all relatively old. We’re still trying to assemble information, and it will take a number of weeks to contact all owners as many models are fourth or fifth hand at this stage,” said Mr Donoghue.
Nissan, who have issued a recall for 775,000 cars, have yet to assess the number of affected vehicles in Ireland.
