As flat as a pancake and nowhere near as appealing, the new album from megastar DJ and producer Avicii is a piece of work with absolutely no redeemable qualities.
A producer who has stuck rigidly to templates and formats, Tim “Avicii” Bergling strikes you as someone who has never come across an adventurous idea that he didn’t run a mile from.
House, techno and electronic music are full of innovative, groundbreaking musicians and dreamers, but Bergling is not one of them.
Stories has Bergling trying to look as if he's doing something different while all the time sticking rigidly to the middle of the road. Tracks such as Broken Arrows and True Believer ("featuring Coldplay's Chris Martin" – four words to strike fear into any music fan's heart) make day-old dishwater look incandescent by comparison.
An album which offends greatly by its very inoffensiveness.
