Little is know about Chicago’s Goodbye Tomorrow beyond the fact that they are a collective of rappers, producers and artists. While anonymity and secrecy have become dodgy marketing tools for many musicians hoping that mystery will distract from mundane music, it is clear from their debut album that Goodbye Tomorrow have something of substance to offer.
The dozen tracks here are resonant and powerful, as tracks swing ambitiously across a broad spectrum. The sound beds are elaborate and intricate, with sweetly layered electronics giving forceful lyrics room to roam on tracks such as Jay Z, while Shine and Light One, Pour One allow more introspective moods to develop.
