Let’s face it; there aren’t too many musicians who can pull off a flamboyant leopard-print shirt. Morrissey? Bowie? Boy George? Add Miles Kane to that glittering list then, as the dapper Scouser strutted onto the stage 10 minutes late yet had the crowd eating out of his hand in half that time. The erstwhile Rascal and Last Shadow Puppet pursues a clear-cut line in modern indie rock ‘n’ roll with generous nods to the Teddy Boy era, glam rock and 1960s beat pop with songs like Take You Down and Better Than That. He has attitude and stage presence in abundance, but he’s not, as we overhear one punter say, as good as he thinks he is. But that’s still pretty good, nonetheless.
