The spirit of The Ramones runs riot through No Age's sound, but Randy Randall and Dean Spunt have put their own spin on cacophonic punk over the course of three albums. Their fourth sees the LA duo marginally slow things down after 2010's feisty Everything in Between, although that approach throws up mixed results. With 11 tracks spread across a concise 29 minutes, the album's brevity gives several songs an unfinished feel despite their punch-packing, although the sheer thrashy exuberance of C'mon, Stimmung is impossible to write off as irrelevant. Randall leads Spunt's creative percussion through skewed daydreams (My Hands, Birch and Steel) and the gentle sway of An Impression with style and confidence, regardless of tempo. This may not be No Age's masterpiece, but they're getting closer. noagela.org
