The series Sharon Horgan was spotted filming at the Forty Foot in Dublin in August has been revealed to be a dark comedy that she stars in and has written for Apple TV+ with a team that includes Paul Howard, creator of Ross O'Carroll-Kelly.
The comedy, which does not yet have a title, is about the Garvey sisters, who are bound together by the premature death of their parents and a promise to always protect one another, according to Variety.
Horgan wasn't allowed to say what they were filming while the crew were at the south Dublin swimming spot, but a security guard told an Irish Times reporter that it was for a television series starring Eve Hewson and Brendan Gleeson.
Horgan said afterwards that she was really keen to film there "because of the history of the place … We knew it couldn't be closed down, because it belongs to the public, so we thought, Let's take our chances. But you forget that your footprint is rather wide and it's very difficult to hide."
Based on Clan, a Belgian series, it is the first result of Horgan's first-look deal with the American streaming service, which she signed in 2019 after the success of Catastrophe, which she starred in and wrote with Rob Delaney.
She has also recently made the third series of the BBC parenting comedy Motherland, the Channel 4 comedy Frank of Ireland, starring Domhnall and Brian Gleeson brothers, Together, a pandemic drama she starred in with James McAvoy, and This Way Up, with Aisling Bea.
The Apple series Ted Lasso, which stars Jason Sudeikis, won four Emmy awards last month, including for best comedy series and best actor in a comedy series.
