Think you’ve heard every love story going? Well, have you heard it backwards? This innovative chamber musical from Jason Roberts Brown starts at the end of a marriage, as Cathy laments the loss of her life-partner: “Jamie’s got secrets he doesn’t confide.” The second song takes us back to their first meeting, as Jamie recalls their blossoming romance. Eventually the music and the time scales collide. Brown’s sung-through score is as easy on the ear as a pop song, despite its compositional complexity. Even the most reluctant musicalgoer will be charmed.
