What is it? Bunalun organic frozen vegetable pizza (rrp €4.95, 416g).
What’s good about it? Authentic Italian, thin-crust, wood-fired, hand-topped pizza, it says on the box. And it delivers. The base is nicely textured and flavourful, due perhaps to the 24-hour rise the dough gets. It is also thin and crisp without being biscuity.
The vegetables in the topping are all organic – grilled red and yellow peppers, broccoli, courgette and spinach – and there are blobs of Fontal cheese sauce as well as grated mozzarella. It’s a little bit bland, but a final dusting of freshly grated Parmesan worked wonders.
Who makes it? Bunalun is a brand owned by Irish company National Organic Products, based in Bray, Co Wicklow, which is an international trading company with a portfolio of all-organic grocery products. The pizzas are made for the company in northern Italy.
