It could be an old photograph, a piece of jewellery belonging to someone you love, a childhood toy, or something you were wearing on the day you first left: we want to hear about the items that you (or a relative) took with you when you emigrated, or have kept since, that mean most to you from home. What is the story behind the object? Why does it hold such significance for you?
You can share your "Emigrant Objects" story using this form. Please attach a photograph, preferably of you with the object (you can email additional images to abroad@irishtimes.com). Don't forget to tell us a little about you - where you are from originally, when you left Ireland and why, where you live now and what you do there.
A selection of stories and photographs will be published as part of a new Irish Times Abroad series.
Thank you.
