Aaron Kiely cuts hair from Tuesday to Saturday in the SitStil salon on Dublin’s Drury Street, but the 24-year-old from Tallaght loves his trade so much that he is setting up his own pop-up venture on his days off.Kiely has cut hair on the street before – in Dublin’s docklands last summer – but tomorrow he will take up the scissors in the Bernard Shaw pub in Richmond Street. “There’s a limit to what you can do on the street, but I’ll have electricity this time.”

Kiely will give all his clients a sketch pad so if they want, they can draw while he cuts.

“I wanted somewhere people could come, relax and even have a beer. I want people to get a salon haircut without feeling they are in a salon.”

His props include a 40-year-old barber’s chair, but he stresses that the scissors it contains are new.
