Rosé d'Folie 2006, Jean-Paul Brun, Beaujolais, 12%, €12.10Brun is one of Beaujolais's bright young things, and Rosé d'Folie ticks all the right boxes for a summer wine: low in alcohol, so you'll still be standing after a glass or three in the garden; utterly drinkable, with hints of soft summery fruit offset by a dry finish and a lovely light, rounded texture; and, of course, a reasonable price.

Chateau Ksara, Sunset 2004, Bekaa Valley, 13%, €12.95In general, with rosé, the younger it is the better. But this old stager from Lebanon breaks the rules with its gorgeous tangerine aromas, soft spices in the mouth and a tangy finish. Delightful.
