This wine will have you reaching out for another glassful

Two wines to try: a Bordeaux fruit-filled dry rosé and good value Pinot Noir

Ch. Haut-Rian 2016, Bordeaux Rosé

Wines Direct is a family-owned-and-run firm of wine importers who sell directly to the public. Most of their business is mail-order/online, although if you are impatient, they have retail outlets in Arnott's in Dublin and their home base of Mullingar. They have a great range of wines, mainly European, including this Ch. Haut-Rian, an old favourite, is certainly on-song in 2016. This is a drop-dead gorgeous, fruit-filled dry rosé that will have you stretching form your deck chair to pour another glass. Great value at €12.95 from Wines Direct, Arnott's, Dublin, Mullingar or winesdirect.ie

Touraine Pinot Noir 2016, Domaine de la Renne

A very tasty Pinot Noir form the Loire valley. It is not quite as good as the excellent 2015 vintage, but it still offers up lovely light refreshing crunchy dark cherry fruits; very good value at €13.75, again for Wines Direct.
