The second Get Running course is now in its second week and thousands of readers are now well on their way to running 10km by the end of May. You can sign up at irishtimes.com/getrunning and complete the eight-week course in your own time. Last week we asked readers to share their experiences of how they had fared on Get Running. Here are our two favourite responses:
I'm loving it. I drop the kids to school and meet up with one or two of the mums who are doing the programme with me. I normally decide our route and pace. Every time is the same, I start off with best intentions and the first 1km is my biggest battle. I'm jogging along and my head is saying "Stop, just stop, make an excuse, they're in front of you, they won't know . . . just stop for a minute then you can catch up . . . just stop, STOP, STOP." I ignore the negativity and I don't let myself stop. I run and run and you know what? I'm down two stone since the programme started and I'm going to lose two more.

I’m attaching a few photos of my recently acquired Get Running T-shirt, taken on our rooftop in Coronado, with the San Diego skyline and the Coronado Bridge in the background.
This newly born 53-year-old runner is delighted with her progress having undergone the Get Running programme. I have gone from a couch potato to running three times a week, and am embarking on training for a 10km. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could accomplish this programme. The extra benefits have been incredibly positive: much more energy, better posture, weight loss and a renewed self-confidence I thought I had lost forever. Margaret O'Donnell
