The Golfing Union of Ireland is selling its imposing headquarters, Glencar House on 81 Eglinton Road, Donnybrook, Dublin 4, which is believed likely to revert to residential use.

Given its location on a mainly residential road and the surplus of period office accommodation currently on the market, the fate of Glencar House would seem to point one way.

It is to be auctioned by Lambert Smith Hampton on October 15th and has a guide of €3 million.

A two-storey over part basement level Victorian semi-detached house, it has a large garden to the front and a single storey garage to the rear with potential for development subject to planning permission.

There are also nine car-parking spaces - a valuable asset in prime Dublin 4 territory - and this aspect may attract commercial investors.

The house spans 269.56 sq m (2,901 sq ft) and has lots of original features, including a sweeping staircase, arched windows and ornate cornices and covings.
