Shopfront: Graham & Green in London is selling mirrored consoles, Brown Thomas mirrored cutlery and Kate Connolly of The Collection in Rathgar, mirrored side tables.

While the coffee table pictured above was designed by Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti a few years ago and is made from polished stainless steel rather than mirror, it uses the same idea of reflecting light and making furniture stand out and fade into a room at the same time. It has a glass top, barely visible if left bare.

Irish interior designer Sirin Lewedon installed one of these tables in a Dublin home recently and sourced it from David Gill Galleries in London.

This is a very expensive piece, selling for between £20,000 and £40,000, but for the collector it's something of a dream - the 20-year-old partnership of Garouste and Bonetti is one of the truly celebrated names in modern design and, if a piece of contemporary furniture can ever hold its value, this is it.
