Honda will launch its long-awaited first diesel engine onto the Irish market next Monday.
Its new Accord diesel will feature the first Honda-built diesel engine, a 2.2-litre common rail unit offering an official figure of 52.3 mpg and pulling power from as low as 2,000 rpm.
We will have a full report next week, but suffice it to say that having driven it last year, it's a very welcome arrival.
The engine is expected to feature also in the CR-V next year and, if it proves a success which we expect it will, it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to expect a smaller 1.9-litre or 1.7-litre version in the future, aimed at the Civic range.
