The Association Of Professional Motoring Press says it will be a new force in Irish motoring.

A split has occurred in the ranks of the Irish motoring writers, with several of Ireland’s leading motoring journalists breaking away from the Irish Motor Writers’ Association and forming a new group, the Association of Professional Motoring Press .

"The APMP will serve consumers and the motoring community by channelling its members' extensive professional know-how, across all aspects of motoring," said the chairman of new association, Michael Sheridan of RTÉ.

The group will organise the annual APMP awards, which will go head to head with the current IMWA-organised Irish Car of the Year awards.
