Wooly nostalgia from Ballycotton

Waddler children's clothes wouldn't look out of place in the nursery scenes of Brideshead Revisited. This gloriously retro line of clothing is designed by Philip Thompson from Ballycotton, Co Cork, who now lives on a remote island off the northwest coast of Brazil with his wife Marina.

The couple make occasional trips to Bolivia and Peru to source the finest baby alpaca wool. Local women then knit the designs inspired by the Thompson's son's experiences riding bareback with gauchos, feasting on wood-baked empanadas, watching fireflies dance, and alligators laze around.
