Richenda Garland is an environmental scientist and mother of two small children. She set up FleeceFrocks a year ago, on her return from New Zealand, to make fun but practical kids clothing. Garland designs and makes zany dresses and what she calls scats (hat and scarf combos), blankets and buggy bags, all from fleece. They’re comfortable, easy to clean and dry, and a lot of the fleece is the same as that used by Patagonia, which is manufactured from waste plastic bottles. The photo below, by Mark Watkin, shows the playful scats (€25). Everything can be bought directly from Garland (01-4958759). or from her website, fleecefrocks.com.
