48 Garda reservists to graduate

Forty-eight Garda reservists - including an air traffic controller, a student, an architect and a teacher - will graduate tomorrow.

The group will be certified by the Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy, and a graduation ceremony in the Garda College, Templemore, Co Tipperary, will be presided over by Tánaiste and Minister for Justice Michael McDowell.

The group started training at the Garda College in January 20th. They will be attached to the Garda stations in Santry (13), Blanchardstown (11), Crumlin (7), Dún Laoghaire (5), Galway West Division (4), Clare Division (2), Limerick Division (4), and Sligo (2).

Four of the new recruits are between 50 and 59 years of age, 12 between 40 and 49, 19 between 30 and 39 and 13 are aged between 20 and 29.

A bus driver, bank official, a social worker, a mechanic, an optician, a truck driver and a nurse are also among the ranks.
