This was the first marathon for Kevin Conboy (53) from Templeogue, Dublin.
He thinks his decision to run the race was brought on by a mid-life crisis.
"That's the only explanation I can find for it", he said.
"It was great to get across that line. From 15 miles on, I was in flames, I was burning oil, big time, but I'm pleased enough."

Would he do a marathon again? "No, that's it. It's another box ticked. Never again."
He was looking forward to a creamy pint of Guinness and a nice steak "to get his protein levels back up again".
