Blarney, Co Cork, has won the 1996 Planning Achievement Award for its local development plan. The annual award, sponsored by the Irish Planning Institute, recognised the "proactive role" of the local community in improving their environment.
It was presented by Ms Liz McManus, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Renewal.
