Gardaí say a body that was recovered from Galway docks yesterday is believed to be that of a man who jumped into the river Corrib just over a week ago during a chase.
The man was being pursued by a security guard when he jumped into the river between Salmon Weir Bridge and O'Brien's Bridge.
He was carried down river by a fast-flowing current.
The security guard believed that the man had taken items from a shop in Eglington Street.
