Athens - A bomb blast heavily damaged a branch of US bank Citibank in Athens early today but no one was hurt, police said.

The bomb planted at the automatic teller machine outside the branch in the Athens suburb of Kallithea exploded shortly after midnight, shattering the bank's windows and wrecking a car parked outside, they said.

A second bomb was found at the entrance to a Citibank branch in the port of Piraeus and was defused.

There was no claim of responsibility for the attacks, but an unknown caller had earlier warned a Greek newspaper and a radio station about both bombs. On Saturday two other banks were attacked with makeshift bombs, causing damage but no injuries.
