Mr Brian McConnell has been appointed as chief executive of permanent tsb, the banking subsidiary Irish Life & Permanent

Mr Brian McConnell has been appointed as chief executive of permanent tsb, the banking subsidiary Irish Life & Permanent. He succeeds Harry Lorton who is retiring from the bank.

Mr McConnell (55) is currently chief operating officer of Irish Life & Permanent plc and is an executive director of the group.

Mr McConnell was a main board director of Ulster Bank in Ireland between 1987 and 1995. He was chief executive of Ulster Investment Bank between 1987 and 1995.
