Two teenagers are being questioned in relation to the brutal rape a 16-year-old girl overnight as she waited for a taxi in Belfast.

The girl was waiting in the car park of a pub at Finaghy Road on the southwestern outskirts of the city at about 1.30am when she was attacked by two men and raped.

The Police said the girl had been severely traumatised by her ordeal and appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to contact them.

The girl is believed to have managed to break free from her attackers at one point and run off but was caught again.

The nearby Finaghy Rail Halt has been closed to passengers seeking to travel to Belfast while a forensic examination is carried out.

Police said Belfast-bound trains would not stop at the halt for most of the day.

Two teenagers were today arrested for questioning, police said later. The 16-year-old and 17-year-old are understood to have been arrested after coming forward to police.
