Berlin - The German interior minister, Mr Otto Schily, has called for a pan-European police force to tackle "riot tourists" and stop violent street battles such as those at the recent G8 summit in Genoa, Derek Scally reports.

His suggestion follows agreement by European interior ministers to develop a Europe-wide database to encourage information-sharing about known rioters.
