A man has been arrested amid an investigation into an aggravated burglary carried out by men pretending to be postmen.

The incident occurred at a house in Georgian Village, Castleknock, Dublin, last Friday morning, shortly after 11am.

Two men dressed as postal workers entered a house and produced a firearm before threatening the occupants.

One of the occupants managed to get out of the house during the incident.

The two men then left the scene in possession of a safe and items of jewellery.

No injuries were reported, and investigations are continuing.

The man is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Blanchardstown Garda station.
