A woman was discharged from the jury and another sworn in for the trial of a man accused of murdering two women 18 years ago.
Mark Nash (42) who had last addresses at Prussia Street and Clonliffe Road in Dublin has pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to the murder of Sylvia Shields (59) and Mary Callanan (61), who lived in sheltered accommodation, in a house attached to St Brendan's Psychiatric Hospital in Grangegorman between March 6th and March 7th, 1997.
The court heard that the woman would not be available for the last two weeks of the trial, which is expected to last six to eight weeks.
A female juror was sworn in for the murder trial, which will commence on Thursday at 11am under Judge Carroll Moran.
The jury of seven men and five women were introduced to Mr Brendan Grehan SC and Ms Una Ni Raifeartaigh SC acting for the State.
The jury members were told there would be evidence from gardaí attached to the Bridewell Station, Galway, Garda Headquarters, Mountjoy Prison and the forensic science laboratory.
Mr Hugh Hartnett SC and Mr Patrick McGrath SC appear for the accused.
Before the jury left for the day, Judge Carroll Moran told them they should not talk to anyone about the case, and only discuss it amongst themselves.
He outlined that once the case is over, they are free talk to anybody about anything to do with the case but not until it was over.
